I just bought Artisteer 2 the other day and really like it. The problem was the existing free themes out there just weren’t exactly what I was looking for, and editing php files was pretty much out of the question (not going to learn that just for a theme). It was amazingly difficult to find a WordPress theme maker or editor until I stumbled across Artisteer.
In fact, the theme you see now is one I made in about 20 minutes. I still want to improve it by jazzing up the graphics for the header, but I like this one a lot more than the premades, and also no link at the bottom. From a marketing point of view I’m going to make some more unique themes and offer them for free and a link at the bottom. I know many will take the link out but it’s still worth doing anyway for backlinks. I’ll probably ask them to give me a link somewhere on their site, and not insist it be in the footer.
It can do Blogger and WordPress themes, and also html pages. It’s really easy to use, but only has a limited selection of clipart and photos. If you have clipart you can insert it into the theme, the stuff it comes with is ok, but there just isn’t much to choose from.
The thing about it that makes it so easy is the “suggest” tool. Just cycle through until you find a template you like, then it can suggest colors, menus, buttons, or you can manually change anything yourself as well. There’s no html or php knowledge needed to use it.
The only thing was how hard it was to find this. If you know of any similar product please leave a commnent. I guess there just aren’t too many theme makers on the market aside from a free but clunky web site that can make them. It’s $49 but worth it, I’m going to crank out a bunch of nice themes to distribute as linkware.
