Neil Lasher makes a book he gives away free on how to buy someone’s business to profit from it. It’s got a lot of information, and some affiliate links at the end for his amazon.com account. They’re pretty good picks for books on the subject so I’m not alarmed they’re the typical affiliate stuff. These are good choices to learn the business.
The thing I take issue with is who this is intended for. It’s not for someone starting out who’s not going to know investors ready to buy a half million dollar business. He does go over the things to check for, and validate before buying someone’s business but it’s the fact so few people have the connections needed to do this kind of business that’s the issue.

Basically, you need to be in contact with rich people or be one yourself to buy a business worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. You’ll need an attorney to write up the contracts, and if you’re in a position to do that then this book is free, and it gives a nice foundation on how to get started.

I like reviews like this, because I think Neil Lasher is the real thing. I just think the number of people prepared to do this type of buying is small. You need credit, you need a lot of money, or investors who are willing to pony up. If you’re in this position and don’t know where to start, get his free book. Even the recommendations on his affiliate links aren’t bad choices.

If you’re a person with limited resources and budget, this isn’t a good idea because from it’s very nature you’re going to have to spend a lot or get investors to go for it.
